Course Description:
We strongly encourage our students to get out and lead, on their own, after successfully completing our Sharp End course. After a few bouts with rope drag, an off-route adventure or two, and an unplanned retreat, most of these climbers gain a new perspective on the magnitude of their responsibilities. Exposed to the full spectrum of leading challenges, they must decide when to “go for it” and when to “descend humbly.” These decisions are not easy and they are not without consequences.

By combining our Advanced Leading and Essentials Of Self-Rescue courses, we’ve created a course that will help you gain the confidence and skill needed to lead more challenging climbs and, at the same time, acquire the knowledge needed to cope with unexpected situations.

Before enrolling in this course, climbers must successfully complete our Leading Skills Evaluation and should have led at least 25 pitches on their own.
